怒不可遏！不知道大家有没有试过，当 iPhone 就快出新款时，身边的朋友就会说他们的 iPhone 开始有坏的迹象？其实一直以来，都有不少阴谋论指苹果会蓄意降低旧 iPhone 的效能，促使消费者购买新型号。不过苹果一直都对这些评论绝口不提，直至 Geekbench 跑分报告出炉，才承认这个做法，还解释是为了避免旧手机突然关机，口吻像是为了大家好？

减速证据确凿

日前跑分测试权威网站 Geekbench 发表了一份报告，显示 iPhone 6S 和 iPhone 7 在不同版本 iOS 的跑分成绩分布。搭载 iOS 10.2.0 的 iPhone 6s 和 iPhone 7，其分布图都只有一个高峰——所有 iPhone 6s 和 iPhone 7 都有极致效能，跑到几乎一样的超高分数。而随着用户把 iPhone 6S 和 iPhone 7 更新至 iOS 10.2.1 和 11.2.0 时，就有愈来愈多手机跑出更慢的分数，显示有可能是 iOS 软件限制了硬件的处理速度。

一个月后更新至 iOS 10.2.1，就突然有很多手机跑到较低分数，图表左边出现很多小山峰。

在 iOS 11.2.0 时，情况就更为严重。

绝大部分 iPhone 7 在 iOS 10.2.0 时，都获得极高分数。

优良情况持续到 iOS 11.1.2。

一到 iOS 11.2.0 就光景不再

为何会出现这个问题？其实我们天天用手机，硬件和电池都会有损耗，效能比以前降低实属正常，不论任何品牌、任何手机型号，都会有这个状况。不过若你比较 iPhone 6S iOS 10.2.0（12/12/2016 推出）和 10.2.1（23/01/2017 推出）的分布图，以及 iPhone 7 iOS 11.1.2（16/11/2017 推出）和 11.2.0（02/12/2017 推出）的分布图，为何在短短一个月的时间，会突然多了许多低分成绩？硬件不太可能在一个月内大幅损耗，那很大机会就是 iOS 更新影响效能了。

苹果解释 / 掩饰？

苹果发言人向外媒 Business Insider 解释，指 iPhone 锂电池在寒冷气候、低电量、或随时间出现老化时，就难以按需求输出极高的电流，可能会导致手机突然关机，以保护其他电子组件。因此苹果自从去年就为 iPhone 6、iPhone 6S 及 iPhone SE 改写电源机制，降低处理器所需的瞬间极高电流，以减慢速度来避免手机突然关机。现在他们已把机制套用在 iOS 11.2 的 iPhone 7，期望未来可延伸至更多型号。以下为苹果的解释原文：

“Our goal is to deliver the best experience for customers, which includes overall performance and prolonging the life of their devices. Lithium-ion batteries become less capable of supplying peak current demands when in cold conditions, have a low battery charge or as they age over time, which can result in the device unexpectedly shutting down to protect its electronic components."

“Last year we released a feature for iPhone 6, iPhone 6S and iPhone SE to smooth out the instantaneous peaks only when needed to prevent the device from unexpectedly shutting down during these conditions. We’ve now extended that feature to iPhone 7 with iOS 11.2, and plan to add support for other products in the future."

看来苹果的做法是为了大家着想，与产品周期促销完全无关。不过为何每次新 iPhone 推出的时候，“iPhone 变慢”的 Google 搜索次数都直线飙升？相信没有人想自己的 iPhone 被迫降速，唯有更换电池“自保”吧。
